This Code of Conduct (CoC) applies to all KABI services offered by KABI Fancy Media or associated with, both online and offline. It aims to ensure that all participants feel safe, respected, and valued. Anyone who violates this CoC may face sanctions or exclusion from these areas at the discretion of the Response Team.
Some KABI services may have additional rules, which will be clearly made available to participants. Participants are responsible for knowing and abiding by these rules in addition to this Code of Conduct.
Core Principles
- Respect and Inclusivity: Treat all participants with kindness, respect, and consideration.
- Safety First: KABI prioritizes the safety and well-being of marginalized individuals over the comfort of others.
- Constructive Engagement: Engage constructively, recognizing the diversity of experiences and perspectives.
- Accountability: Participants are responsible for their words and actions.
Unacceptable Behaviors
The term 'harassment' includes (but is not limited to):
- Discrimination and offensive remarks related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, mental illness, neuro(a)typicity, physical appearance, body size, age, race, ethnicity, or religion.
- Unwanted comments about a person's lifestyle, choices, or practices, including food, health, education, drug use, or employment.
- Intentional misgendering or use of disavowed names.
- Display or sharing of inappropriate imagery or behavior in unsuitable contexts.
- Unconsented physical contact or simulated physical contact (e.g., "hugging").
- Threats or incitement of violence toward any person, including oneself.
- Intentional intimidation, stalking, or harassment.
- Non-consensual photography, screen captures, or logging activity for harassment purposes.
- Persistent interruptions, unwelcome attention, or refusal to respect boundaries.
- Intentional "outing" of any aspect of a person's identity without their consent, except to protect vulnerable individuals.
- Sharing private communications without consent.
KABI's Commitment
KABI reserves the right to prioritize the safety and inclusion of marginalized people over the comfort of privileged individuals. KABI will not entertain complaints about the following:
- Criticism of oppressive behaviors, including racism, sexism, ableism, and other forms of discrimination.
- Firmly communicated boundaries, such as "Please leave me alone," or "I’m not discussing this with you."
- The use of tone or language some may find unsympathetic when addressing oppressive behavior.
- Expressions of frustration or anger that do not cross into harassment or discrimination.
Examples
KABI encourages constructive dialogue and condemns harmful or oppressive language. For example:
- Unacceptable: "You fat white [expletive], leave."
- Acceptable: "Your comment is racist, and this behavior is not tolerated."
Harmful language tied to sexist, racist, or otherwise exclusionary terms is strictly prohibited.
Reporting Violations
If you are being harassed, notice someone else being harassed, or have other concerns, please contact the Response Team.
- If the harasser is part of the Response Team, they will recuse themselves from handling the incident.
- All reports will be reviewed and responded to as promptly as possible.
- KABI respects confidentiality requests to protect victims of harassment.
We reserve the right to name individuals about whom we have received complaints if it enhances community safety. Victims of harassment will not be named without their explicit consent.
Consequences
Participants asked to stop harassing or disruptive behavior must comply immediately. Failure to comply or further violations of this CoC may result in actions including, but not limited to:
- Verbal or written warnings.
- Temporary or permanent exclusion from KABI services.
- Identification of the participant as a harasser to other KABI users or the public, if deemed necessary for safety.
Additional Measures
KABI encourages:
- Active participation in creating inclusive spaces.
- Proactive support for individuals facing harassment or exclusion.
- Reporting incidents or concerns promptly to the Response Team.
Suggestions and feedback on this Code of Conduct are welcome.
Amendments
KABI reserves the right to amend this Code of Conduct as needed. All changes will be clearly communicated and made publicly available.
